The Arizona Cardinals haven't exactly been deemed winners in most subjects over the last 12 months - though that landscape might be changing under new general manager Monti Ossenfort.

Ossenfort inherited a 4-13 roster that needed a new head coach, lost some very notable names and is still awaiting a full recovery from franchise quarterback Kyler Murray.

The 2023 NFL Draft - though it was his first - felt very much like a monumental time for Ossenfort to either set the Cardinals back further or piece together building blocks for the future.

As Arizona fans now know, he did just that after wheeling and dealing in a hectic first round.

The team added another episode to their "Flight Plan" YouTube video series that gave fans an inside look into the Cardinals' draft room:

"Alright, here we go," said Ossenfort as the draft officially went underway.

"I think the phones are going to start going here a little bit."

Indeed they did, as Ossenfort made calls to Indianapolis Colts GM Chris Ballard and Houston Texans GM Nick Caserio to discuss possibilities of moving down from No. 3.

Ossenfort and Caserio went back and forth on the phones through negotiations before evaluating the overall value of what the Texans wanted from Arizona in terms of compensation.

Meanwhile, head coach Jonathan Gannon and owner Michael Bidwill are sitting in the war room in awe watching Ossenfort go to work.

"Wow," said Gannon after Ossenfort ironed out the details and had the deal to drop from No. 3 to No. 12 ironed out.

Yet the night wasn't done - the Cardinals were still looking to move up and getting their guy.

Ossenfort was on the phone with Seattle Seahawks GM John Schneider in attempts to move up to the No. 5 pick, while also contacting Las Vegas Raiders GM Dave Ziegler (No. 7).

All the offers were listed on the white board, including a potential package from the Atlanta Falcons (No. 8).

After getting word that Seattle will stick, the focus immediately shifts to Detroit Lions GM Dave Sears, who picked right after at No. 6.

After a few back and forth phone calls, the deal was ironed out and the Cardinals were back on the clock to pick their franchise offensive lineman in Paris Johnson Jr.

Enthusiastic claps and cheers in Arizona's war room followed the call to move up to No. 6.

It was truly amazing to see this inside access, so kudos to the Cardinals and their video team
